State Sen. Tom McClintock, one of Californias most high-profile conservative Republicans, isnt ruling out a run for the 4th Congressional District GOP nomination and a chance to replace U.S. Rep. John Doolittle, R-Roseville.
McClintock, R-Thousand Oaks, was asked by the Journal whether he was considering a run for the Northern California seat, which includes Auburn. He was also asked through an e-mail sent to his office whether he supported any Fourth District candidate for the Republican nomination.
Jennifer Cressy, press secretary for the senator, replied that McClintock has received calls from supporters urging him to run for a variety of different offices.
At the moment hes keeping his options open and he hasnt made any decisions yet, Cressy said.

John Wayne vs. Rex Harrison!
There’s no doubt that McClintock would increase the intellectual caliber of Congress. And while I dislike carpetbagging, he has lived in the area for a while, and two other candidates (Rico Oller and Eric England) also moved into the district to run.
McClintock would be a carpet bagger. He should support his friend Rico Oller, instead.
Rico Oller moved from San Andreas (which is also within the 4th CD) so he is therefore not a carpetbagger.
“Rico Oller moved from San Andreas (which is also within the 4th CD) so he is therefore not a carpetbagger.”
Let’s face it, none of these candidates will be defeated based on “carpetbagging” charges. The only way that the GOP nominee could possibly lose to Democrat Charlie Brown is if there’s a major scandal surrounding him.
It seems to me that McClintock’s record has been combed through with a nit comb, and that he’d be 100% scandal free. Would the same be the case for Oller and England? Just wondering.
Wow you must really know Rico well. So well in fact to miss that San Andreas is (and has been for almost 10 years) in the 3rd CD where he ran originally and lost. And so well to miss the obvious fact that he never moved to the 4th. His residence is still San Andreas.
And maybe when polling shows that one candidate is at 43 percent and the other at 6% (and losing to the Dem), it’s the 6% percent candidate who should consider calling it quits...
This should be Oller’s Seat. McClintock should run for Harman’s Seat or Something productive like that.
This comment was rational. Tom is a great thinker, legislator and if he could run as a Real Pub in a Congressional district where he would not be questioned about carpetbagging or slick electioneering, that would be two for two. Oller and Tom defeating their Dem opponents. If this could be done; it would be best for the Party as well as the district and our Congressional caucus in Ca. I have met and questioned Tom over many years and he is a great man and should have been governor.
No doubt, I like Tom McClintock, and hell, he should at least be Lt. Governor right now, if not Governor. (And I’d love to see Harman at least given a real race, if not knocked out of Congress, if you could do that, perhaps that district could be un-gerrymandered so that it doesnt have to protect a Dem Incumbent anymore)
